Reforms of Pericles and Establishment of the Athenian Empire

With exception of triumphant victory over Persian Empire, there is no more illustrious period in history of Athens than a relatively short life of Athenian Federacy. An explosive efflorescence of Athens in fields of politics, economy and arts was achieved only rarely in human history. Athenians were successful to a large extent thanks to reforms and leadership of Pericles, who, in environment of dynamic and change loving community, was able to lead his city with exceptional statesmanship. The submitted paper is describing, in a concise fashion, the advancement of Athens during the time of her supremacy and main aspects of Pericles´s political and personal life.
